Chile: FNE presents results after first year of merger control

One year on after Chile began implementing mandatory control over economic merger operations, dozens of local and foreign experts have met at a seminar organized by the law firm Barros & Errázuriz and the Affinitas network to analyze the agency’s progress and future challenges.

The head of the FNE, Mario Ybar, recalled that the previous legislation did not require companies to control their operations. However, change has been evident and positive. According to data from the FNE itself, 58 merger operations have been notified since 2015, while the team assigned to the issue has increased its resources by 155%.
