UK: CMA shares views on regulating taxis and PHVs

 |  September 28, 2016

On 28 September 2016, CMA Acting Chief Executive Andrea Coscelli wrote to the Chief Licensing Officer of the City of Sheffield, outlining the views of the Competition and Markets Authority on proposals for regulation of taxis and private hire vehicles (PHVs) in the city.

The letter sets out concerns about the impact on passengers of proposals before the City Licensing Committee. It builds on the CMA’s examination of a merger between PHV operators in Sheffield, and its analysis of private hire regulation in several locations, including its response to Transport for London’s private hire regulation proposals.

The letter is available HERE.
