On July 20, Federal Trade Commission Acting Chairman Maureen K. Ohlhausen announced that D. Bruce Hoffman has been selected to fill the position of Acting Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition as of August 7, 2017.
Hoffman will join the FTC from Shearman & Sterling LLP where he was a partner and the firm’s Global Co-Head of the Antitrust Group.
Hoffman will replace current Acting Bureau of Competition Director Markus Meier, who will return to leading the Bureau’s Healthcare Division.
Ohlhausen said, “Bruce brings tremendous qualifications to his new role as Acting Director of the Bureau of Competition, and I am thrilled he will be joining us in August.”
