US: Senate hearing scheduled for AT&T – Time Warner deal

Following Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley’s call for a “robust ­review” of the AT&T deal, a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing regarding the deal is scheduled to be held on December 7 of this year.

There is bipartisan opposition to the proposed acquisition by broadband and wireless provider AT&T of Time Warner, which owns CNN, HBO and Warner Bros.

The leaders of the panel announced that the hearing will focus on the planned merger’s impact on consumers. Randall Stephenson, the CEO of AT&T, and Jeffrey Bewkes, the CEO of Time Warner, will testify.
