China: News media call for luxury car antitrust probe

Media giant Xinhua News Agency made public calls for an antitrust investigation into foreign manufacturers of luxury cars, accusing companies of inflating their products’ prices within China. Reports say Xinhua is focusing on imported cars following various investigations into other markets influenced by overseas companies, especially since the announcement of probes into infant formula makers within China. Experts told media, however, that an investigation into luxury carmakers is not likely.
