Armenia: Competition authorities send airline case over to Russia

 |  July 10, 2014

Armenia’s competition regulator announced Wednesday that it will send an ongoing case into the business practices of UTair Aviation to Russian authorities.

Armenia’s Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition has been investigating the airline for alleged false claims regarding pricing of air fares for routes between Moscow to Yerevan. Reports say the airline advertised a certain fare that turned out to be false.

Armenian officials have decided to send the case to Russia’s antitrust authority because UTair Aviation’s sole shareholder, UTair Leasing, is registered in Russia; UTairArmenia only sells the tickets that are priced by UTair Leasing.

Reports say UTair is one of Russia’s top three airlines.
