Gerardo graduated with the thesis theme: “The rule of reason in the absolute monopolistic practices” (“La regla de la razón en las prácticas monopólicas absolutas”). He Initiated his professional activity in 1999 in the Federal District Government, where he worked in the Sub Management Advise of the Mexican subway (Sistema de Transporte Colectivo Metro). By the end of the year 2001, he worked in a law firm named Bufete García Ruiz, S.C., developing in the areas of corporative law, foreign investments and intellectual property. On February 2004, he joined the law firm Valdés Abascal y Brito Anderson, S.C., now being a senior associate of such firm, where he has had an intense practice in the areas of antitrust, constitutional trials (amparo) and administrative litigation.


In subject of antitrust he has participated in high complex matters, representing companies such as Telefónica Movistar, Comercial Mexicana, Desc, Gigante, Grupo Modelo, Iusacell, Sempra Energy, Soriana and SSA México, among other.


He is head Professor of Economic Competition Law at the Universidad Panamericana Law School.
