Paulo Casagrande has extensive expertise in Administrative, Competition and Regulatory Law, acquired by his experience in both the private and public sectors. Before joining BGPM, he worked at the Secretariat of Economic Law of the Brazilian Ministry of Justice (SDE), where he was in charge of implementing the new unit responsible for investigating bid rigging in cooperation with other enforcement agencies (2007-2009). During his tenure at the federal government, he was involved in the development of key competition policy issues carried on by SDE, and also represented the Secretariat at the meetings of the Competition Committee of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), in Paris.
In his previous private practice, Paulo Casagrande worked at the Brussels office of international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he assisted Brazilian and international companies in competition and regulatory issues (2006-2007). He also worked for six years at Levy & Salomão Advogados, representing clients in corporate and administrative law matters (1999-2005).
Paulo Casagrande is a guest professor of Fundação Getulio Vargas, and has published many articles in newspapers and academic journals on competition and regulatory issues.
