Ted Banks concentrates his practice on antitrust, compliance, food law, and other corporate matters. Mr. Banks has extensive experience with corporate litigation, including responsibility for contested mergers, environmental contamination, advertising, insurance coverage, products liability, employment law, consumer protection, and packaging and recycling. For more than 30 years as an in-house attorney and compliance leader at Kraft Foods, he worked to make sure that compliance and ethics messages were delivered effectively to employees. He has helped develop corporate codes of conduct, on-line training systems, specific compliance policies and programs, risk assessments, employee surveys, and other compliance tools. Since the 1970s, he has pioneered the use of computer technology for all aspects of the legal field, including compliance training, tracking and monitoring.
He teaches compliance skills to law students as an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago Law School, and is a frequent speaker at training sessions for lawyers and compliance officers, including serving as the chair of the Practising Law Institute Compliance & Ethics Institute each year in Chicago. He has written numerous books and articles, including the Corporate Legal Compliance Handbook (2d ed.), published by Aspen/Wolters-Kluwer. In the antitrust field, Ted demonstrates a unique ability to understand the business needs of clients and work with them to develop sales, marketing, and acquisition programs that are both effective and legal.
