Brazilian Watchdog Fines Logistic Co For Antitrust Breaches

 |  November 4, 2021
Brazil's antitrust regulator, Cade fined Rumo on Wednesday for “creating difficulties” to rival Agrovia, which operates in the transport of sugar for export.

The investigation began in 2016, based on a complaint made to Cade by Agrovia. The company claimed at the time that it depended on the use of the Malha Paulista, controlled by Rumo-ALL, to transport sugar to the Port of Santos, in São Paulo, and that the company was creating obstacles to its operation.

The complaint was reinforced by a communication sent to Cade by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), which found evidence of violations of the economic order in a process that was being processed at the agency involving the same companies.
