Bulgaria: Watchdog rules against foreign energy giants

Bulgaria’s competition regulator ruled Tuesday that three foreign energy companies operating in the nation abused their market dominance, according to reports.

CEZ and Energo-Pro of the Czech Republic, and EVN of Austria were found to have violated federal competition law by imposing excessive fees to access power grids and set unfair conditions with electronic communication networks to use the grid for Internet, television and phone services, reports said.

Since the regulator’s decision was made public, CEZ denied the ruling and said it would file its opposition to the accusations.
