Canada: Competition Bureau starts consumer consultation on ISPs

 |  October 17, 2018

According to a report from the Telecom Paper, Canada’s Competition Bureau launched a consultation to learn about consumer habits in purchasing internet services. The regulator asked internet users to fill out a short survey on its website to provide feedback on their experiences with Canadian internet providers. Ultimately, the Bureau aims to find out if internet regulations could be smarter and more effective, it said.

The consultation follows an update of its Broadband Market Study on the competitive dynamics in the industry and an industry consultation on those results earlier this year. After the latest consultation, the Bureau aims to reach its preliminary conclusions by March 2019. These will be consulted with industry before publication of a final report by June.
