Canada: Enforcement agencies join to deter cartel activity

 |  September 22, 2016

On September 22, the Inspector General of the city on Montreal signed an agreement with Competition Bureau to combat deceptive marketing practices and cartel activity, such as price‑fixing and bid‑rigging.

The agreement between the organizations will enhance and promote cooperation, coordination, information sharing, education and awareness in areas of mutual interest as well as contribute to the advancement of enforcement activities, outreach efforts and competition promotion.

The Competition Bureau, as an independent law enforcement agency, ensures that Canadian businesses and consumers prosper in a competitive and innovative marketplace.
