Casino Said to Suspend Geant Sale as Grocers Get Virus Kick

Casino Guichard-Perrachon SA has suspended talks to sell Geant hypermarkets and other assets as the French retailer focuses on responding to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a person with direct knowledge of the situation.

Casino has put its 2 billion-euro ($2.2 billion) divestment plan on hold after its chains recorded a 30% average jump in sales in the past few weeks as consumers stockpile food, said the person, who asked not to be identified as the information isn’t public.
