Class certified in lawsuit against Pacific Seafood Group

 |  February 1, 2012

U.S. District Judge Owen Panner certified a class of commercial fishermen to bring a lawsuit against Pacific Seafood Group. The fishermen allege that Pacific abuses its market power–the company is the largest seafood processor on the West Coast–to drive down prices of groundfish, whiting, and Pacific shrimp. There are an estimated 1,500 fishermen in the class, and the plaintiffs seek from $67-83 million in damages.
