Ecuadorian law firm Lexvalor has hired a senior associate from Pérez Bustamante & Ponce as partner.
Luis Marin Tobar, 35, joined Lexvalor on November 18. He now leads the firm’s IP and competition practices. The firm lists 13 partners.
Marin joined Pérez Bustamante in 2010. He also had a stint as an international associate at White & Case in Brussels in 2013.
Marin says he has followed Lexvalor’s growth and development for some time and sees the firm as a great match for his legal services in IP and competition law.
Lexvalor was founded in 2005 and merged with counterpart Peñaherrera & Ponce Abogados in 2017. The firm is best known for its corporate offering.
Besides his work at Lexvalor, Marin heads the IP committee of the Ecuador-US Chamber of Commerce. He is currently working on implementing changes to parts of Ecuador’s IP regulation, which are required as part of Ecuador’s discussions to enter a new trade agreement with the US.
