 |  January 25, 2012

Danilo P. Perez, a former vice president of Ocean Bank, pled guilty to conspiracy to solicit or demand bribes to influence an employee of a financial institution. Perez accepted nearly $500,000 in cash, watches, Super Bowl tickets, and other items of value in exchange for approving letters of credit, loans, and overdraft privileges.

Perez also pled guilty to three counts of tax offenses for failing to report the bribes on federal income tax returns, which resulted in lost tax revenue of $91,000 to the federal government.
