France’s competition authority will fine Apple on Monday, March 16, for practices related to its distribution and sales network, according to Reuters sources.
Earlier this year, French consumer watchdog DGCCRF announced Apple agreed to pay US$28 million in fines from its slowing of older iPhone models.
From her appointment as the head of the French antitrust watchdog, Isabelle de Silva has set her sights on US tech giants, including Alphabet’s Google, fined €150 million (US$167 million) for opaque advertising rules.
Apple mentioned in its latest annual report that France’s competition authority was alleging that aspects of its sales and distribution practices were violating French competition law, which it denies.
