Global: Apple, Samsung make patent peace outside US

Apple and Samsung have reportedly decided to end all patent litigation filed against each other outside the US.

A spokesperson for Samsung said Wednesday that the technology rivals are withdrawing lawsuits regarding patent disputes outside the US but that “the companies are continuing to pursue the existing cases in US courts.”

The smartphone makers have endured lawsuit battles over patent infringement and royalty disputes for the last three years, reports say. The companies did not specify why they would continue to pursue their lawsuits within the US.

Last May, a judge ordered South Korea-based Samsung to pay $119.6 million to Apple after Samsung was found to have infringed on three Apple patents.
