 |  April 23, 2012

The International Competition Network (ICN) has launched three new initiatives that were announced at the 11th annual ICN conference, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The first initiative, co-chaired by the United States Department of Justice and the Turkish Competition Authority, centers around international enforcement cooperation. The second is on the investigative process, and is co-chaired by the United States Federal Trade Commission and the European Commission’s Competition Directorate. The Chilean Competition Tribunal and Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection chaired the third initiative, which concerns working with the courts.

The ICN’s working groups also presented new materials on best practices in merger review, cartel awareness and outreach, and unilateral conduct.

At the conference, Chairman Eduardo Pérez Motta of the Mexican Federal Competition Commission was selected as the new chair of the ICN Steering Group. Motta replaces John Fingleton of the U.K. OFT.
