Ireland: Frozen meat sector sees rearranging post-scandal

ABP Food Group is looking to make some changes. The company has announced a deal to sell a facility in its move to leave the frozen burger market in Ireland. The Silvercrest facility will be sold to the Kepak group in a deal that is subject to the approval of the Competition Authority. The market, which has been under scrutiny after horse meet was found in beef products, is looking to move past the scandal. According to reports, ABP kept all 122 of the Silvercrest staff on payroll since the last three months while the future of the facility was in limbo.
