Italy: Antitrust regulator sanctions Poste Italiane

 |  January 16, 2018

On Tuesday, January 16, the Italian Antitrust Authority imposed a fine of €23 million (US$28.2 million) on the group Poste Italiane led by Matteo Del Fante for an abuse of a dominant position in the deliveries market.

Poste Italiane intends to appeal the sanction imposed by the Antitrust Authority to the Regional Administrative Tribunal, contesting the validity of the amount imposed as an administrative sanction, according to the gravity and duration of the infringement.

According to the company, the behavior in place fully corresponds to regulatory guidelines and market logic in a highly competitive market.
