The world’s largest cable maker, Italy-based Prysmian, is reportedly not pursuing a merger with France-based rival Nexans, according to a source close to Prysmian.
Reports say earlier reports of a possible deal are not true despite an Italian newspaper’s article claiming Prysmian head Valero Battista had raised such a merger possibility at a closed-door meeting.
Since those initial reports, however, industry experts expressed skepticism at the deal as any tie-up would likely face significant antitrust hurdles.
