K&L Gates Grows Antitrust Team In Brussels

 |  June 16, 2022

Global law firm K&L Gates has added Nikolaos Peristerakis as a partner in the antitrust, competition, and trade regulation practice. He joins K&L Gates’ Brussels office from Linklaters.

Peristerakis is a competition practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in Brussels. He advises and represents companies on merger control and antitrust investigations before the European Commission and national authorities in Europe, as well as on a global basis. He counsels companies active in the technology, telecoms, media, basic industries, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, and finance sectors on high-profile mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, as well as complex antitrust investigations. He also advises clients on internal investigations, leniency applications, cartel and abuse of dominance compliance matters, and state aid.
“The Brussels office has seen a rapid increase in competition and regulatory work principally driven by significant global transactions,” said Tony Griffiths, K&L Gates’ managing partner for Europe and the Middle East. “We identified the need to bring in senior behavioral competition experience to further strengthen the competition and regulatory capability. Nick meets that strategic requirement perfectly. We are delighted to welcome Nick to the team.” Peristerakis’ arrival follows the additions of antitrust partners Yi Ying in Washington, D.C., and Dr. Jens Steger in Frankfurt last year. They are among the 125 partners and of counsel the firm has welcomed across its platform since the beginning of 2020.
“Nick’s extensive experience in competition matters enhances our existing practice’s global reach, further strengthening our ability to advise our clients in critical sectors of the economy. We are pleased to welcome him to the firm,” said David Wochner, co-leader of K&L Gates’ global policy and regulatory practice area.
The antitrust, competition, and trade regulation practice at K&L Gates is composed of nearly 80 lawyers throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, and Asia. The group is positioned in strategic markets around the globe to help clients minimize antitrust risks and ensure compliance, defend or pursue litigation, get deals through regulatory authorities, provide guidance in pricing, distribution, and brand protection challenges, and leverage antitrust and competition laws.
