Linde acquisition of Air Products Homecare in five countries cleared

 |  April 18, 2012

The European Commission has approved Linde’s proposed acquisition of the homecare business of Air Products Homecare in five countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Portugal and Spain). Linde and Air Products Homecare provide homecare services, notably supplying oxygen to patients.

The acquisition was cleared because both parties have a “very limited” presence in France; significant competitors remain after the transaction in Germany, Spain, and Belgium; a new national tender for medical homecare will take effect in Portugal. Moreover, the vertical relationship for medical oxygen created by the merger was found not to significantly affect supply in the five countries.
