Mayer Brown’s Antitrust and Competition partner now leads the firm’s Brussels office as partner-in-charge, according to reports.
Mayer Brown announced Jens Peter Schmidt has been appointed to the new position, which took effect June 1. Reports say Schmidt takes the place of Kiran Desai, who held the position for nearly two decades.
Schmidt has been at Mayer Brown since 2001 and, previously, had served as an advisor to the European Commission and Germany’s Federal Cartel Office on matters regarding merger control.
In the firm’s Brussels office, Desai will reportedly continue work on antitrust litigation, Mayer Brown said.
