 |  February 21, 2012

The NMa has cleared the proposed acquisition of C1000 by Jumbo Groep Holding BV. Jumbo is a closely held Dutch supermarket chain; its rival C1000 is owned by private equity firm CVC Capital Partners. The deal will give Jumbo 412 supermarkets and 23 percent market share in exchange for 900 million euros in cash. The combined entity poses a challenge to the dominant Albert Heijn chain, which occupies 33 percent of the market.
