In September 2017, I established an independent antitrust practice in Washington, DC to serve a wide array of clients in the antitrust/competition area. With the flexibility of selecting interesting client assignments, I can represent corporations and senior executives in antitrust cartel investigations, act for plaintiffs in class action or opt-out antitrust damage litigation, preparing and conducting compliance programs for companies, and assisting companies and law firms around the world on specific issues and strategies based on my 43-years of experience in antitrust practice. When I need more help in handling a client problem, I have assembled a loose network of very impressive practitioners — and we have the flexibility to create a team virtually anywhere in the world. This is an exciting and dynamic concept, and I hope you will consider Klawiter PLLC to assist you in helping to solve your competition law problems and concerns.
Over many years at major international law firms, my practice has focused on antitrust investigations and litigation with special emphasis on international cartel investigations. I have defended corporations and senior corporate executives from six continents in investigations and prosecutions by enforcement agencies in the United States and throughout the world.
I served as an antitrust prosecutor from 1975 to 1986, holding several senior positions at the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, including Chief of the Dallas Office and Special Assistant to the Director of Operations. I have experience trying antitrust cases both as a prosecutor and a defense lawyer, having tried criminal, civil and merger cases.
I had the privilege to serve as Chair of the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law in 2005 and 2006. I currently serve as Chair of the Section's International Cartel Task Force. I have been a regular speaker at, and organizer of, antitrust programs and conferences around the world.
