On July 12, 2019, the Council of the Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic (hereafter “the Council of the Office”) issued a decision by which it decided on the appeals lodged by the participants to the proceedings against the decision of the first-instance body of the Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic, the Division of Cartels, (hereafter “the Office”) No. 2018/DOH/POK/1/40 of November 30, 2018.

In that decision, the first-instance body of the Office imposed fines in the total amount of €9,386,456 on 15 undertakings for the infringement of the Act on Protection of Competition, which consisted of the conclusion of several cartel agreements on prices, market allocation, the exchange of sensitive business information, and coordination in public procurement process in relation to selling passenger and light commercial motor vehicles.

The Council annulled the decision of the Office´s first-instance body and referred the case back to the first-instance body for reconsideration and new decision.
