South Africa: Excessive pricing lands steelmaker in hot seat

South Africa’s Competition Commission is reportedly probing steel company ArcelorMittal for allegations of “excessive pricing.”

The steelmaker announced Friday it was under investigation by regulators for pricing policies regarding its tinplate and flat steel products and the surcharges the company introduced between May and July in 2010.

The company, which is South Africa’s largest steelmaker, said it is fully cooperating with regulators.
