South Korea: State power monopoly suspected of unfair activities

 |  May 21, 2014

South Korean competition authorities are reportedly probing the Korea Electric Power Corp., a state-run utility, over suspicions of anticompetitive behavior, according to insider sources.

Reports say the Fair Trade Commission raided offices of KEPCO and affiliated units earlier this week. Details are scarce but reports say the investigation centers on possible collusive agreements made between themselves.

The units also searched are Korea East-West Power Co. and Korea Weaternpower Co.

Reports did not say whether the FTC or KEPCO confirmed or denied the searches.
