Switzerland: Watchdog opens investigation into fibre network tenders

 |  January 16, 2020

Swiss competition commission Weko announced that it has opened an investigation into possible collusion in fiber network tenders. Several unnamed businesses were visited already in order to seize documents in the probe.

The investigation centres on possible illicit agreements between firms that provide hardware or software products for fiber networks. The investigation will check whether these agreements reduced competition in violation of antitrust law.

The regulator is concerned the companies may have coordinated their offers in advance of tenders. Typically, this happens in an attempt to steer the award of a contract to a company at a certain price.
