U.S.: EBook settlement with DOJ means lower price listings for Hachett publisher

According to reports, book publisher Hachett has made a deal with Amazon and Barnes & Noble that has led to an agreement between the publisher and the sellers to not prevent discounted prices on eBooks. According to a Hachette spokesperson, Hachette’s settlement with the Department of Justice over the eBook price-fixing conflict between publishers and sellers has led to a reduction in the price listings on Amazon and Barnes & Noble by $1. The spokesperson noted, however, that the exact terms of the settlement are confidential.
