UK: New investigation continues major sweep of construction sector

The Office of Fair Trading has reportedly opened an investigation into alleged anti-competitive behavior regarding traning services within the construction sector. The businesses under investigation have not been named, but what is known is that the probe was opened in response to complaints of collusion between construction companies. The investigation comes on the heels of one of the largest cartel investigations to be conducted by an antitrust authority in the world, when, in 2009, the OFT found infringements against about 100 companies involved in almost 200 projects, according to reports. Reports also say that the latest investigation “likely” concerns entitres who provide training services in the construction sector.
