US: Albertsons considering Whole Foods buy

Albertsons is considering buying Austin-based Whole Foods, according to the Austin Business Journal.

No bid has been placed at this time. The Austin Business Journal reports Whole Foods has also an investment banking advisory firm, to advise it on a strategic review of it operations. Albertsons has more than 2,000 stores nationwide, after it bought out Safeway for $9 billion in 2015.

According to the Austin Business Journal, only Wal-Mart and Kroger collect more grocery revenue nationwide.
