US: DOJ welcomes MIT professor to Antitrust Division

The US Department of Justice has announced the hiring of economics expert Nancy L. Rose to the DOJ’s Antitrust Division, say reports.

Rose, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology economics professor, will join the Antitrust Division as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Economic Analysis. The position will advise the DOJ on major mergers and non-merger enforcement, reports say.

Rose will take the position former held by Aviv Nevo, who first joined in February of last year. Nevo will reportedly return to Northwestern University for the upcoming academic year as a professor.

Rose’s new position means she will serve as Antitrust Division Assistant Attorney General Bill Baer’s top adviser.
