Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops have agreed to give the Federal Trade Commission more time to review their proposed merger.
Cabela’s said in a securities filing on Monday that the two companies have entered into a “timing agreement” with the FTC to extend the waiting period in which to review the deal until July 5. The companies had originally said they expected the FTC’s review to be completed in the first half of the year.
Cabela’s said in the filing that the extension was requested by the FTC and is meant to give the commission’s staff more time to review the deal as well as time to brief commissioners and answer any questions they may have.
The Sidney-based outdoors retailer said in the filing that both companies continue to work “closely and cooperatively” with the FTC in its review of the proposed merger.
