US: Man sentenced in real-estate bid-rigging conviction

More than 6 months after his conviction for participating in a bid-rigging conspiracy, Alvin Florida Jr. was sentenced on July 26.

An investigation found that between 2008 and 2010, Mr. Florida conspired with others to rig the bids of public real estate auctions. He was charged in November of 2014 and was later convicted in December 2016.

Mr. Florida’s sentence includes a US$325,803.00 criminal fine, 21 months prison sentence and up to three years of supervised release.

The sentence is part of an ongoing investigation into bid rigging at public real estate foreclosure auctions in four California counties.
