New York Attorney General Letitia James arrived in Washington, DC, to meet the Department of Justice (DOJ) officials and discuss investigation on Facebook, Axios reported on Monday, October 7.
Letitia James leads the antitrust investigation on the Silicon valley-based company and the meeting may impel DOJ to consider starting its own.
According to sources, she is going to speak with Attorney General William Barr, Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, and Associate Attorney General for Antitrust Makan Delrahim.
Previously, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requested the DOJ to investigate potential antitrust activities. The Justice Department and FTC split jurisdiction over major tech companies for competition concerns earlier this year, with the FTC taking up an antitrust investigation into Facebook. But Barr prodded his agency to begin its own Facebook inquiry, prompting concerns from both FTC chairman Joe Simons and Republican Sen. Mike Lee about overlapping investigations.
