US: Pennsylvania utilities commission approves T-Mobile-Sprint merger

Pennsylvania’s Public Utility Commission on Thursday, May 23, approved T-Mobile US’s $26 billion purchase of rival Sprint, reported Reuters.

The companies are still awaiting approval from the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division and two other state commissions—California and Hawaii. It was unclear if state attorneys general will fight the proposed transaction.

The deal has already won approval in principle from the Federal Communications Commission and other state public utility commissions.
