US: Siemens sells health IT operations for $1.3B

Siemens announced plans to divest its health IT operations in a $1.3 billion sale, say reports.

Siemens Health Services will be acquired by Cerner Corp, which will likely acquire related infrastructure and employees, reports say.

The transaction still needs regulatory approval, but the companies said they plan to close the deal in the first quarter of 2015. According to Siemens Healthcare, the transaction will expand the combined company’s geographical and technological reach.
