Watchdog rejects Televisa-Iusacell deal

 |  January 11, 2013

Televisa and Iusacell have announced that Televisa’s planned acquisition of half of Iusacell has been blocked by the Federal Competition Commission by a 3-2 vote. The news comes a week after the actual vote on the deal. The acquisition would have allowed Televisa to enter the mobile phone market and challenge the market leader, Carlos Slim’s America Movil SAB.

Televisa has pledged to appeal the watchdog’s decision.
