Silvia Solidoro joined the Florence School of Regulation in May 2016. She obtained a PhD in Law and Economics from the Institute of Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies (ISUFI) in 2011 (graduated with full marks, first class honors degree). Her thesis provided an in-depth explanation of the challenges faced by national judicial authorities when dealing with the financial distress of companies owning subsidiaries in different countries.
From 2007 to 2011 she served as a Lecturer and Teaching Assistant in International Law at the University of Salento, Faculty of Law. Silvia held seminars and took part in conferences in Italy and abroad. She is a member of the International Insolvency Institute, NextGen Leadership Program, and a member of the Expert Group on Human Rights and Economy hosted by the University of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’. Her main research interests deal with antitrust, insolvency law and comparative legal studies.
Starting from 2009, she has been consulting on corporate law and competition policy matters with the Investment Climate Department of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank Group, in Washington, DC, with a focus on economy-wide and sector-specific reforms aimed at fostering private sector development. Prior to joining the EUI, she also acted as independent expert for a consulting firm based in Rome.
Silvia earned her law degree (magna cum laude) in 2006 and was admitted to practice law in Italy in 2009.
