Argentina: Molinos Cañuelas accused of abuse of dominant position

 |  September 11, 2018

Impulsar, an NGO advocating for the rights of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), has denounced Molino Cañuelas SACIFIA, Molinos Florencia, and seven mills owned by Cargill SA (Grupo Trigalia) for “economic concentration that impacts the entire industry and harms the economic interest … ”

Molinos Cañuelas has said that it does not know the reasons for this complaint, clarifying that they are “part of the Argentine Federation of the Milling Industry (FAIM), where it has one vote, the same as all other members.”

According to the NGO Impulsar, the complaint is due to the “commission of anticompetitive practices of cartelization with milling associations in which Molino Cañuelas intervenes for the imposition of their will with respect to market actions and the use of the joint negotiation with the union for its own benefit without giving room to SMEs.” The CNDC has received the complaint and demanded a response from the defendants.
