Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati announced today that their partner Jonathan M. Jacobson has been elected Chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Antitrust Law.
Jacobson’s one-year term officially began on August 13, and it follows his term as Chair-Elect of the Antitrust Section, which he’s held since August 2016. Stepping down from the Chair he held for the 2016-17 term is Kelley Drye partner William MacLeod, who has held leadership roles at the ABA since 2011, and is a former Competition Bureau Director at the Federal Trade Commission.
Jonathan Jacobson is a partner in the firm’s New York office, and is considered one of the country’s preeminent antitrust litigators, Jonathan has taken a lead role in representing major corporate clients in many high-profile antitrust litigations, investigations, trials, and appeals. He also serves as primary counsel for his clients on a wide variety of other antitrust matters.
The ABA Section of Antitrust Law is the leading professional organization for antitrust and competition law, trade regulation, consumer protection, and economics. Members include attorneys and non-lawyers from around the world working in private law firms, in-house counsel, non-profit organizations, consulting firms, federal, state, and international government agencies, as well as judges, professors, economists, and law students.
“Companies and other entities continue to face formidable challenges as they address competition and consumer protection issues in our global marketplace,” Jacobson said. “A key element of the Antitrust Section’s mission is to ensure the organization’s members remain well-informed as to the associated policy issues and prepared as practitioners, and that charge is now more important than ever.”
