Apple is taking constant efforts to equip its voice-based personal assistant called Siri with outstanding features to make it smarter. Recently the company has joined hands with Artificial intelligence firm named Lattice Data which will transform the unstructured “dark data” like texts and images into a structured data. The deal was closed between the two companies for $200 million on Saturday.
Lattice Data, the California-based company was founded in 2015 which provides data analytics solutions. As per the TechCrunch reports, Apple has acquired Lattice Data a few weeks ago and around 20 engineers have joined the company. As Apple frequently acquires smaller companies to enhance its future plans, the company does not discuss the purpose or plans, said the Apple’s spokesperson.
Lattice Data uses the AI and machine learning algorithms to transform the dark data to structured data which can be easily analyzed using traditional tools. But, the company has not made an official announcement regarding this acquisition but it is expected that the company plans to improve its digital assistant called Siri. As our digital world is producing dark data that is largely unusable it is necessary to transform this data into a useful form for processing and analytics.
