US: Largest concierge medical provider sued for exclusive dealing

The nation’s largest concierge medical services provider is facing a lawsuit accusing the company of forcing exclusive agreements on its physicians, according to reports.

    Florida-based MDVIP has been sued by Signature MD on grounds that MDVIP squeezes out rivals from the competition through those exclusivity contracts with healthcare providers. The suit, filed last Friday, claims MDVIP holds 70 percent of the concierge medicine membership program industry, and a 65 to 100 percent share of the market in specific cities across the nation.

    MDVIP has not yet responded to the allegations.

    Concierge medical programs allow door-to-door medical services. The lawsuit claims MDVIP’s program holds 700 physicians and 200,000 members in 43 states, according to reports.
