Argentina: CNDC backs resolution to avoid overcharges in electricity

 |  March 4, 2019

The National Commission for the Defense of Competition (CNDC) of Argentina backed a resolution issued by the National Institute of Associations and Social Economy in which it establishes that the cooperatives that distribute electric power must invoice these services separately, and not as an item within a bill for other services.

Among the services unrelated to the supply of electricity are those such as burial services, medical emergency response, fire prevention, fixed and mobile telephony, drinking water, internet, digital TV and gas, among others.

Several cooperatives have protested the measure after the last increase in electricity rates, which has reached up to 38.9% in total (calculated for the month of next August).
