Brazil’s competition watchdog CADE and China’s Ministry of Commerce have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Brasilia, ratifying their bilateral commitment to antitrust cooperation and the defense of competition in their respective nations.

The memorandum defines, among other issues, the commitment to a full exchange of information on the development of the respective legislations and competition policies; promotion of competition and training of responsible officials; those cases that may be subject to analysis by both countries; and perspectives on international cooperation in this area.

The document, signed by CADE President Alexandre Barreto and Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming, underscores the importance of cooperation for the promotion and effective application of competition policy and legislation.
