 |  May 29, 2018
EDP Energias do Brasil SA has announced that it will sell 51% of its stake in a small hydroelectric plant in Mato Grosso do Sul, with a 16MW generation capacity.

Specifically, EDP is selling its stake in Costa Rica Energética Ltda to its rival CEI – Energética Integrada Ltda, for a price tag of 40.4 million Reais (USD$11 million approximately), under the condition that they meet certain requirements, including the approval of the country’s competition regulator CADE, as well as the energy regulator, Aneel.

With this sale, EDP would walk out of the business of operating small hydroelectric plants in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul.
